John,
Congratulations on such wonderful good fortune this past year. Here's hoping that it continues for you and your family, and your luck becomes a touchstone for all of us men with pans. My Shanghai-born wife introduced me to the traditional consumption of noodles on New Years and birthdays. I make mine for our new years eve dinner with a peanut sauce and shrimp. New Years day we are back stateside and a big pot of chili to warm us on the stove. Happy New Years to you and your family, John.

I have been reading your posts for the past several months as my wife was expecting our first child and I have been getting excited about expanding my cooking from for my wife and I to a full family. I too make black eyed peas and collard greens but I also add hog jowl to the good luck mix. But this year I had to order in as our daughter was born at 8:32am on New Year's Day. Thanks for your great posts and recipes and keep them coming. Happy New Year!
